OHO opens retail store at the Bimini Big Game Club; Represents their entry into the destination retail store market.
BLOCK ISLAND, RI. April 11th, 2008 Fishing gear company Old Harbor Outfitters (OHO) is set to open their first retail store operation at the Bimini Big Game Resort & Yacht Club (BBGC), Bimini, Bahamas.  Set to open April 15th to kick off the 2008 season, the new store will showcase the entire line of innovative OHO apparel and gear. The 2008 line will include their newly released titanium tools, their much anticipated line of sport fishing sunglasses, and the new technical fishing shorts featuring their award winning built-in fighting harness. The apparel will include OHO / BBGC co-branded items for both the sport fishing and casual island lifestyles. The store will become an attraction on the property with a colorful island décor, hanging fish mounts highlighting the local fishery, as well as a place to book fishing and scuba diving adventures.
"We are very excited to open a retail store at the Bimini Big Game Resort & Yacht Club. The whole crew at OHO loves the casual atmosphere of the club and the being part of a resort steeped in big game history” said Steve Tempini, CEO Old Harbor Outfitters.
The club has big plans over the next few years that include a renovation project that will expand the facilities of the hotel and the marina. This year they are also launching a new concept in fishing vacations dubbed the Bimini Big Game Rod and Reel Club. This unique Club membership program will offer members the opportunity to have a 33’ center console Dusky fishing boat available for their exclusive use during their stay as well as a golf cart for getting around the Island. Members will also enjoy a host of other exciting Club amenities.
“We like the idea of having the best sport fishing apparel and gear company on our property. Our clients are a special group of active sport fishing and boating enthusiasts that simply want the best the market has to offer. We are thrilled to have OHO part of our club,” said Gene Wright, owner Bimini Big Game Resort & Yacht Club.
Bimini has been the island getaway for the likes of fishing legend Ernest Hemingway, Al Capone, Bill "The Real" McCoy, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jimmy Hoffa just to name a few. In 1930's a 500lb Blue Marlin catch inspired Ernest Hemingway's book Old Man and the Sea and in 1964, Martin Luther King visited and worked on his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech. It is considered one of the most unique and peaceful places on earth.
Unlike Nassau or Freeport, the island of Bimini is a uniquely easy going destination. Only a handful of travelers are acquainted with its tranquil beaches and serene waters. Some consider Bimini to be the gateway to the lost city of Atlantis. A quarter-mile off Paradise Point lays an ancient, underwater arrangement of stones that has baffled natives, mystics and scientists for generations. Decades of scientific research have only served to intensify the mystery. Some call it the Bimini Road, while others call it the Bimini Wall, but all believe it leads to the lost continent of Atlantis.
The next time your plan your sport-fishing adventure, think about the Bimini Big Game Resort & Yacht Club and stop into the new OHO store on the property for some truly innovative sport-fishing apparel and gear.
