OLD HARBOR OUTFITTERS POLARIZED SUNGLASSES WIN ICAST BEST EYEWEAR AWARD
BLOCK ISLAND, RI July 20th, 2008 – Fishing gear company, Old Harbor Outfitters (OHO) takes top honors at ICAST, for the second year in a row. This year, OHO wins the award for their new line of premium fishing sunglasses with Beneath the SurfaceTM polarized lens technology.
Each year, the premier trade event known as the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) produced by American Sportfishing Association (ASA) awards the best New Fishing Products of the year. In their 51st year, the New Product Showcase has become the flagship feature of the event and becomes more competitive each year. 190 companies entered 695 tackle products and accessories into the New Product Showcase.
The new sunglasses feature Beneath the SurfaceTM lens which is designed to withstand the harsh elements experienced by serious offshore anglers and feature new advancements in Ultra Violet Protection, Anti-Fog, Water Repulsion, Polarization and Frame Material technologies.
The new lenses (Super Thin Glass and NXT) feature triple polarization technology that allow anglers to see further Beneath the SurfaceTM of the water, making spotting marlin in the spread and bonefish in the flats, much easier. OHO sunglass frames feature the latest advancements in A9 composite and TR90 technology. Several of the frames are patent pending concepts built for functionality, durability, and made to aggressively deter the corrosive effects of the salt sea air.

Making up a special section of ICAST's 350,000-square-foot show floor, the New Product Showcase gives the industry's latest innovations in gear and accessories special visibility during the show. There are more than 7,000 representatives of the global sportfishing community in attendance with nearly 2,000 buyers and over 400 media representatives in Las Vegas for the world's largest sportfishing trade show.

Buyers and media representatives judged the products based on their levels of innovation, execution, workmanship and practicality to select "Best of Show" honors in 17 categories, as well as the overall "Best of Show" winner.
